¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants to whom You ^(A)swore by Yourself, and said to them, ‘I will ^(B)multiply your ^[a]descendants as the stars of the heavens, and ^(C)all this land of which I have spoken I will give to your ^[b]descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

¹⁸ In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become ^(A)a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “^(B)So shall your ^[a]descendants be.”

¹² Therefore even from one man, and ^(A)one who was as good as dead ^[a]at that, there were born descendants who were ^(B)just as the stars of heaven in number, and as the innumerable grains of sand along the seashore.
