²⁰built^(A) on the foundation^(B) of the apostles and prophets,^(C) with Christ Jesus himself^(D) as the chief cornerstone.^(E)

⁶For this is contained in ^[a]Scripture:

“^(A)Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a ^(B)precious cornerstone,
And the one who believes in ^[b]Him will not be ^[c]put to shame.”

⁶For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,^(A)
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”^[a]^(B)
