Ecclesiastes 1:11-13
New American Standard Bible
11 There is (A)no remembrance of the [a]earlier things,
And of the later things as well, which will occur,
There will be no remembrance of them
Among those who will come later still.
The Futility of Wisdom
12 I, the (B)Preacher, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I (C)set my [b]mind to seek and (D)explore by wisdom about everything that has been done under heaven. It is a [c](E)sorry task with which God has given the sons of mankind to be troubled.

Wisdom Is Meaningless
12 I, the Teacher,(C) was king over Israel in Jerusalem.(D) 13 I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens.(E) What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind!(F)
