¹⁵ ‘Cursed is the person who makes ^(A)a carved image or cast metal image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ And ^(B)all the people shall reply and say, ‘Amen.’

⁵ For Solomon became a follower of ^(A)Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and of ^[a](B)Milcom the abhorrent idol of the Ammonites.

⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for ^(A)Chemosh, the abhorrent idol of Moab, on the mountain that is ^[a]east of Jerusalem, and for ^(B)Molech, the abhorrent idol of the sons of Ammon.

¹³ And the king defiled the high places that were opposite Jerusalem, which were on the right of ^(A)the mount of destruction which Solomon the king of Israel had built for ^(B)Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for ^(C)Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the sons of Ammon. ^14 (D)He also smashed to pieces the memorial stones and cut down the ^[a]Asherim, and ^(E)filled their places with human bones.
