⁷ “If there is ^(A)a poor person among you, one of your brothers, in any of your ^[a]towns in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, ^(B)you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother; ⁸ but ^(C)you shall fully open your hand to him, and generously lend him enough for his need in whatever he lacks.

Cast Your Bread on the Waters

11 ^(A)Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you ^(B)will find it ^[a]after many days. ^2 (C)Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what ^(D)misfortune may occur on the earth.

⁴² And ^(A)whoever gives one of these ^[a]little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

⁴⁰ And ^(A)the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, ^(B)to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’

⁶ Now I say this: ^(A)the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows ^[a]generously will also reap ^[b]generously. ⁷ Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not ^(B)reluctantly or under compulsion, for ^(C)God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And ^(D)God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that, always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;

¹⁰ For ^(A)God is not unjust so as to forget ^(B)your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having ^(C)served and by still serving the ^[a]saints.
