^16 (A)Then you shall gather all its plunder into the middle of its public square, and burn the city and all its plunder with fire as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God; and it shall be a ^[a](B)ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt.

⁴ Though Edom says, “We have been ^(A)beaten down, but we will ^[a](B)return and build up the ruins”; this is what the Lord of armies says: “They may ^(C)build, but I will tear down; and people will call them the ^[b]territory of wickedness, and the people ^[c]with whom the Lord is indignant ^(D)forever.”
