16 Then the Lord said to Moses, “You are about to die,[a] and then these people will begin to prostitute themselves with the foreign gods of the land into which they[b] are going. They[c] will reject[d] me and break my covenant that I have made with them.[e] 17 At that time[f] my anger will erupt against them,[g] and I will abandon them and hide my face from them until they are devoured. Many disasters and distresses will overcome[h] them[i] so that they[j] will say at that time, ‘Have not these disasters[k] overcome us[l] because our[m] God is not among us[n] ?’ 18 But I will certainly[o] hide myself at that time because of all the wickedness they[p] will have done by turning to other gods.

16 And the Lord said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your ancestors,(A) and these people will soon prostitute(B) themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake(C) me and break the covenant I made with them. 17 And in that day I will become angry(D) with them and forsake(E) them; I will hide(F) my face(G) from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters(H) and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?’(I) 18 And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.
