(A)So at that time we took the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the [a]Valley of Arnon to Mount Hermon (Sidonians (B)call Hermon (C)Sirion, and the Amorites call it (D)Senir): 10 all the cities of the plateau, all Gilead, and (E)all Bashan, as far as Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 11 (For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the (F)Rephaim. Behold, his [b]bed was a [c]bed of iron; it is in (G)Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. Its length was nine cubits, and its width four cubits by [d]the usual cubit.)

12 “So we took possession of this land at that time. From (H)Aroer, which is by the [e]Valley of Arnon, and half the hill country of (I)Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites. 13 The rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh, all the region of Argob. (As to all Bashan, it is called the land of Rephaim. 14 (J)Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, that is, Bashan, and named [f]it after his own name: [g]Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.) 15 (K)To Machir I gave Gilead. 16 To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave from Gilead even as far as the [h]Valley of Arnon, the middle of the [i]valley [j]as a border, and as far as the [k]river (L)Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon; 17 the Arabah also, with the Jordan [l]as a border, from [m](M)Chinnereth (N)even as far as the sea of the Arabah, (O)the Salt Sea, [n]at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.

So at that time we took from these two kings of the Amorites(A) the territory east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Gorge as far as Mount Hermon.(B) (Hermon is called Sirion(C) by the Sidonians; the Amorites call it Senir.)(D) 10 We took all the towns on the plateau, and all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salekah(E) and Edrei, towns of Og’s kingdom in Bashan. 11 (Og king of Bashan was the last of the Rephaites.(F) His bed was decorated with iron and was more than nine cubits long and four cubits wide.[a] It is still in Rabbah(G) of the Ammonites.)

Division of the Land

12 Of the land that we took over at that time, I gave the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory north of Aroer(H) by the Arnon Gorge, including half the hill country of Gilead, together with its towns. 13 The rest of Gilead and also all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh.(I) (The whole region of Argob in Bashan used to be known as a land of the Rephaites.(J) 14 Jair,(K) a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites;(L) it was named(M) after him, so that to this day Bashan is called Havvoth Jair.[b]) 15 And I gave Gilead to Makir.(N) 16 But to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory extending from Gilead down to the Arnon Gorge (the middle of the gorge being the border) and out to the Jabbok River,(O) which is the border of the Ammonites. 17 Its western border was the Jordan in the Arabah,(P) from Kinnereth(Q) to the Sea of the Arabah(R) (that is, the Dead Sea(S)), below the slopes of Pisgah.

And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;

(Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;)

10 All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.

12 And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

13 And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.

14 Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.

15 And I gave Gilead unto Machir.

16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

17 The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.

Kings Defeated by Israel

12 Now these are the (A)kings of the land whom the sons of Israel [a]defeated, and they took possession of their land beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, from the Valley of the Arnon as far as Mount Hermon, and all the Arabah to the east: Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon and ruled (B)from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, both the middle of the valley and half of Gilead, even as far as the brook Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon; and the (C)Arabah as far as the Sea of [b]Chinneroth toward the east, and as far as the Sea of the Arabah, that is, the Salt Sea, eastward [c]toward (D)Beth-jeshimoth, and on the south, [d]at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah; and the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of (E)the remnant of Rephaim, who lived at (F)Ashtaroth and at Edrei, and ruled over Mount Hermon, (G)Salecah, and all Bashan, as far as (H)the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and half of Gilead, as far as the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. Moses the servant of the Lord and the sons of Israel [e]defeated them; and (I)Moses the servant of the Lord gave it to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh as a possession.

12 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.
