8 “So we passed beyond our brothers the sons of Esau, who live in Seir, away from the (A)Arabah road, away from Elath and (B)Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed through by the way of the wilderness of Moab. 9 Then the Lord said to me, ‘Do not attack Moab, nor provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of [a]their land as a possession, because I have given (C)Ar to (D)the sons of Lot as a possession.’ 10 (The (E)Emim lived there previously, a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.

8 So we went on past our relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. We turned from(A) the Arabah(B) road, which comes up from Elath and Ezion Geber,(C) and traveled along the desert road of Moab.(D)
9 Then the Lord said to me, “Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar(E) to the descendants of Lot(F) as a possession.”
10 (The Emites(G) used to live there—a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites.(H)
