²¹ And He said to me, ‘Go! For I will send you far away ^(A)to the Gentiles.’”

^17 (A)rescuing you ^(B)from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,

⁵ through whom we have received grace and ^(A)apostleship ^[a]to bring about the ^(B)obedience of faith among ^(C)all the Gentiles in behalf of His name,

¹³ But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Therefore insofar as ^(A)I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry

¹⁶ to be ^(A)a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the ^(B)gospel of God, so that my ^(C)offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ to reveal His Son in me so that I might ^(A)preach Him among the Gentiles, ^(B)I did not immediately consult with ^[a](C)flesh and blood,

⁷ But on the contrary, seeing that I had been ^(A)entrusted with the ^(B)gospel ^[a]to the uncircumcised, just as ^(C)Peter had been ^[b]to the circumcised ⁸ (for He who was at work for Peter in his ^(D)apostleship ^[c]to the circumcised was at work for me also to the Gentiles), ⁹ and recognizing ^(E)the grace that had been given to me, ^[d](F)James and ^[e](G)Cephas and John, who were ^(H)reputed to be ^(I)pillars, gave to me and ^(J)Barnabas the ^(K)right ^[f]hand of fellowship, so that we might ^(L)go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. ¹⁰ They only asked us to remember the poor—^(M)the very thing I also was eager to do.

Peter (Cephas) Opposed by Paul

¹¹ But when ^(N)Cephas came to ^(O)Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he ^[g]stood condemned. ¹² For prior to the coming of some men from ^[h](P)James, he used to ^(Q)eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, ^(R)fearing those from the circumcision. ¹³ The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even ^(S)Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they ^(T)were not ^[i]straightforward about ^(U)the truth of the gospel, I said to ^(V)Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, ^(W)live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?^[j]

¹⁵ “We are ^(X)Jews by nature and not ^(Y)sinners from the Gentiles; ¹⁶ nevertheless, knowing that ^(Z)a person is not justified by works of ^[k]the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by ^(AA)faith in Christ and not by works of ^[l]the Law; since ^(AB)by works of ^[m]the Law no ^[n]flesh will be justified. ¹⁷ But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found ^(AC)sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? ^[o](AD)Far from it! ¹⁸ For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I ^(AE)prove myself to be a wrongdoer. ¹⁹ For through ^[p]the Law I ^(AF)died to ^[q]the Law, so that I might live for God. ²⁰ I have been ^(AG)crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but ^(AH)Christ lives in me; and ^[r]the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in ^(AI)the Son of God, who ^(AJ)loved me and ^(AK)gave Himself up for me. ²¹ I do not nullify the grace of God, for ^(AL)if righteousness comes through ^[s]the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”

Paul’s Stewardship

3 For this reason I, Paul, ^(A)the prisoner of ^(B)Christ Jesus ^(C)for the sake of you ^(D)Gentiles—

⁸ To me, ^(A)the very least of all ^[a]saints, this grace was given, to ^(B)preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable ^(C)riches of Christ,
