²⁷ So when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the middle of the gate to speak with him privately, and there ^(A)he struck him in the belly, so that he died on account of the blood of his brother Asahel.

¹³ Now David summoned ^[a]Uriah, and he ate and drank in his presence, and he ^(A)made ^[b]Uriah drunk; and in the evening Uriah went out to lie on his bed ^(B)with his lord’s servants, and he still did not go down to his house.

¹⁴ So in the morning David ^(C)wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. ^15 (D)He had written in the letter ^[c]the following: “^[d]Station Uriah on the front line of the ^[e]fiercest battle and pull back from him, ^(E)so that he may be struck and killed.”
