22 David then said, “(A)What [a]is there between you and me, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should be an adversary to me today? (B)Should anyone be put to death in Israel today? For do I not know that I am king over Israel today?” 23 So the king said to Shimei, “(C)You shall not die.” The king also swore to him.

24 Then (D)Mephibosheth the [b]grandson of Saul came down to meet the king; but (E)he had neither [c]tended to his feet, nor [d]trimmed his mustache, nor (F)washed his clothes since the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.

24 Mephibosheth,(D) Saul’s grandson, also went down to meet the king. He had not taken care of his feet or trimmed his mustache or washed his clothes from the day the king left until the day he returned safely.
