²¹ Saul replied, “^(A)Am I not a Benjaminite, of ^(B)the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the ^[a]tribe of Benjamin? Why then have you spoken to me in this way?”

²³ So Saul’s servants spoke these words ^[a]to David. But David said, “Is it trivial in your sight to become the king’s son-in-law, ^(A)since I am only a poor man and insignificant?”

David’s Prayer

¹⁸ Then David the king came in and sat before the Lord, and he said, “^(A)Who am I, Lord ^[a]God, and who are the members of my household, that You have brought me this far?
