And he [a]was afraid, and got up and ran for his [b]life and came to (A)Beersheba, which belongs to Judah; and he left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree; and (B)he asked for himself to die, and said, “Enough! Now, Lord, take my [c]life, for I am no better than my fathers.” Then he lay down and fell asleep under a broom tree; but behold, there was (C)an angel touching him, and he said to him, “Arise, eat!”

Elijah was afraid[a] and ran(A) for his life.(B) When he came to Beersheba(C) in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush,(D) sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life;(E) I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.(F)

All at once an angel(G) touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”
