¹⁷ And it shall come about that the ^(A)one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu ^(B)shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death.

¹² And Hazael said, “Why is my lord weeping?” And he ^[a]answered, “Because ^(A)I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: you will set their fortified cities on fire, you will kill their young men with the sword, their little ones you ^(B)will smash to pieces, and you will rip up their pregnant women.”

²² Now ^(A)Hazael king of Aram had oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
