3 (A)He had seven hundred wives, who were [a]princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned his heart away. 4 For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away [b]to follow other gods; and (B)his heart was not [c]wholly devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of his father David had been. 5 For Solomon became a follower of (C)Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and of [d](D)Milcom the abhorrent idol of the Ammonites.

3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines,(A) and his wives led him astray.(B) 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods,(C) and his heart was not fully devoted(D) to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. 5 He followed Ashtoreth(E) the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molek(F) the detestable god of the Ammonites.
