1 John 2:7-9

7 (A)Beloved, I am (B)not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had (C)from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. 8 [a]On the other hand, I am writing (D)a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because (E)the darkness is passing away and (F)the true Light is already shining. 9 The one who says that he is in the Light and yet (G)hates his (H)brother or sister is in the darkness until now.

7 Dear friends,(A) I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning.(B) This old command is the message you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command;(C) its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing(D) and the true light(E) is already shining.(F)
9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister[a](G) is still in the darkness.(H)
