7 The Lord, the God of heaven, brought me from the home of my father and the land of my relatives. And he promised me, ‘I will give this land to your descendants.’ The Lord will send his angel before you to help you get a wife for my son there. 8 If the girl won’t come back with you, you will be free from this promise. But you must not take my son back there.” 9 So the servant put his hand under his master’s leg and made a promise to Abraham about this.

7 “The Lord, the God of heaven,(A) who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land(B) and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring[a](C) I will give this land’(D)—he will send his angel before you(E) so that you can get a wife for my son from there. 8 If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath(F) of mine. Only do not take my son back there.”(G) 9 So the servant put his hand under the thigh(H) of his master(I) Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.
