my God. The danger posed by Canaanites remaining in the land was that they would turn Israel from following the Lord to serve other gods (Deut. 7:4). The implication of this curse is that the Gibeonites would serve in the house of Israel’s God without being counted as members of His people. The rituals and sacrifices of the tabernacle required supplies of wood and water.
