NEST (קֵן, H7860). There are frequent references to birds and their nests in the OT, and sometimes the word is used fig. to refer to the home of a human being (Job 29:18; Jer 22:23). The remarkable construction and inaccessibility of birds’ nests were a wonder to people in ancient times as they are today. In the NT the only reference to them was made by Jesus when He compared His homelessness with the fact that foxes have holes and the birds of the air have their nests (Matt 8:20; Luke 9:58).
