MADMANNAH măd măn’ ə (מַדְמַנָּ֖ה; B, Μαχαρίμ, A, Βεδεβηνά [Josh 15:31]; B, Μαρμηνά, A, Μαδμηνά [1 Chron 2:49]; dunghill). A city of SW Judah. A comparison of lists of cities in Joshua 19:1-5 and 15:28-31 suggests that it was also called Beth-marcaboth and was assigned as one of Simeon’s cities. It may have been founded by Shaaph, descendant of Caleb (1 Chron 2:49). Identification with Khirbet umm Deimneh, twelve m. NE of Beersheba, has been proposed.
