Lodge

LODGE (לִין, H4328; αὐλίζομαι, G887; to stay; מְלוּנָה, H4870, a lodging place, etc.). Used both as a verb and as a substantive. As a verb, it means to stay either temporarily or permanently (Gen 32:13, 21; Josh 2:1; 4:3; Ruth 1:16). The “lodge in a cucumber field” (Isa 1:8) prob. refers to a small temporary hut, rudely constructed, made for the watchman who kept the garden or vineyard, during the brief period while the roof was ripening, and taken down just as soon as it had served its purpose. It is the same as the tower of Matthew 21:33.
