Lo-Ammi

LO-AMMI lō ăm’ ī (לֹ֣א עַמִּ֑י, not my people). A symbolical name given by the prophet Hosea to his second son and third child by his wife Gomer (Hos 1:9). KJV has LO-AMMI; RSV, NOT MY PEOPLE. A daughter had previously been called Lo-ruhamah, meaning “not pitied.” The names given to the children were symbolic of the fact that Israel, because of its disobedience, had forfeited the compassion and protection of Jehovah.
