LEDGE. The rendering of כַּרְכֹּב, H4136, (Exod 27:5; 38:4; KJV COMPASS) and עֲזָרָה, H6478, (Ezek 43:14, 17, 20; 45:19; KJV SETTLE), which refer to a projection on an altar. The Exodus passages tell of a ledge half way between the base and the top of the altar of the Tabernacle. The Ezekiel passages tell of two such ledges. In the KJV the word is tr. שָׁלָב, H8918, and is used of a projection on the bases of Solomon’s Molten Sea (1 Kings 7:28, 29).
