LAPWING. See Hoopoe. There is no support for this tr., found only in KJV (Lev 11:19; Deut 14:18). The Lapwing, or Green Plover, is a well-known British bird, and it is a winter visitor to Pal. Some thirty other shore birds either winter there or pass through on migration, and only one member of this very wandering family is a resident—the Spurwing Plover.
