Apocalypse of Messos

MESSOS, APOCALYPSE OF mĕs’ əs. One of the Gnostic works in Coptic which was discovered at Chenoboskion in Egypt in 1946. The title is missing, but the contents shows that someone named Messos who was a Gnostic seer or prophet, was called up into the higher realms where he was given revelations that were not to be given out indiscriminately, but were to be hidden on a mountain. It is mentioned in Porphyry’s life of his master Plotinus as one of the heretical works the latter combatted.
