8 I got rid of three shepherds in one month. I became impatient with the sheep, and they also became disgusted with me. 9 So I said, “I won’t be your shepherd. Let those that are dying die. Let those that are missing stay missing. And let those that are left devour each other.”
10 Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it in pieces, to break the promise[a] that I had made to all the nations.

New International Version
8 In one month I got rid of the three shepherds.
The flock detested(A) me, and I grew weary of them 9 and said, “I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish.(B) Let those who are left eat(C) one another’s flesh.”
10 Then I took my staff called Favor(D) and broke it, revoking(E) the covenant I had made with all the nations.
