Zechariah 1:9-11

9 I asked, “What are these, my lord?”[a] Then the angel who spoke with me answered, “I will show you what these are.” 10 Then the man who was standing among the myrtle trees spoke up and said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.”(A) 11 And they answered the angel of the Lord,[b] who was standing among the myrtle trees: “We have been patrolling the earth, and now the whole earth rests quietly.”

- 1:9 My lord: this expression in Hebrew (‘adoni) is used as a polite form of address. Angel who spoke with me: angelic being (not identical to the angel of the Lord who is one of the four horsemen) who serves as an interpreter, bringing a message from God to the prophet, who himself is a messenger of God.
- 1:11 Angel of the Lord: chief angelic figure in God’s heavenly court, and perhaps the “man” of 1:8.

9 I asked, “What are these, my lord?”
The angel(A) who was talking with me answered, “I will show you what they are.”(B)
10 Then the man standing among the myrtle trees explained, “They are the ones the Lord has sent to go throughout the earth.”(C)
11 And they reported to the angel of the Lord(D) who was standing among the myrtle trees, “We have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace.”(E)
