17 Nísinsin yìí sọ fún wa, kí ni èrò rẹ? Ǹjẹ́ ó tọ́ láti san owó orí fún Kesari tàbí kò tọ́?”

18 Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu ti mọ èrò búburú inú wọn, ó wí pé, “Ẹ̀yin àgàbàgebè, èéṣe ti ẹ̀yin fi ń dán mi wò? 19 Ẹ fi owó ẹyọ tí a fi ń san owó orí kan hàn mi.” Wọn mú dínárì kan wá fún un, 20 ó sì bi wọ́n pé, “Àwòrán ta ni èyí? Àkọlé tà sì ní?”

21 (A)Wọ́n sì dáhùn pé, “Ti Kesari ni.”

“Nígbà náà ni ó wí fún wọn pé,” “Ẹ fi èyí tí í ṣe ti Kesari fún Kesari, ẹ sì fi èyí ti ṣe ti Ọlọ́run fún Ọlọ́run.”

17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax[a](A) to Caesar or not?”

18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19 Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, 20 and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”

21 “Caesar’s,” they replied.

Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s,(B) and to God what is God’s.”
