29 And as Isaiah predicted,
“If the Lord of hosts had not left us children,
we would have fared like Sodom and been made like Gomor′rah.”

30 What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, righteousness through faith; 31 but that Israel who pursued the righteousness which is based on law did not succeed in fulfilling that law.

29 It is just as Isaiah said previously:
“Unless the Lord Almighty(A)
had left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.”[a](B)

30 What then shall we say?(C) That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;(D) 31 but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness,(E) have not attained their goal.(F)
