4 So when we were baptized, we were buried with Christ and shared his death. We were buried with him so that we could live a new life, just as Christ was raised from death by the wonderful power of the Father.
5 Christ died, and we have been joined with Christ by dying too. So we will also be joined with him by rising from death as he did. 6 We know that our old life died with Christ on the cross. This was so that our sinful selves would have no power over us, and we would not be slaves to sin.

4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death(A) in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead(B) through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.(C)
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.(D) 6 For we know that our old self(E) was crucified with him(F) so that the body ruled by sin(G) might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin(H)—
