(A) No, indeed! God tells the truth, even if everyone else is a liar. The Scriptures say about God,

“Your words
    will be proven true,
and in court
    you will win your case.”

If our evil deeds show how right God is, then what can we say? Is it wrong for God to become angry and punish us? What a foolish thing to ask. But the answer is, “No.” Otherwise, how could God judge the world?

Not at all! Let God be true,(A) and every human being a liar.(B) As it is written:

“So that you may be proved right when you speak
    and prevail when you judge.”[a](C)

But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly,(D) what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)(E) Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world?(F)
