7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come.”[a] 8 And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. And its rider was named Death, and the Grave[b] followed closely behind him. They were given power over a quarter of the earth, to kill people with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth.

9 When the Lamb opened the fifth seal, under the incense altar I saw the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and because of the testimony they had maintained.

7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature(A) say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse!(B) Its rider was named Death, and Hades(C) was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.(D)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under(E) the altar(F) the souls of those who had been slain(G) because of the word of God(H) and the testimony they had maintained.
