⁴And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and had ornaments of gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and the unclean things of her fornication;

⁵and upon her forehead a name written, Mystery, great Babylon, the mother of the harlots, and of the abominations of the earth.

⁶And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I wondered, seeing her, with great wonder.

⁴The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls.^(A) She held a golden cup^(B) in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.^(C) ⁵The name written on her forehead was a mystery:^(D)

babylon the great^(E)

the mother of prostitutes^(F)

and of the abominations of the earth.

⁶I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God’s holy people,^(G) the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus.

When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.
