but they were defeated, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon—the ancient serpent who is called the devil, or Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—was hurled down to earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

“Now have come the salvation and the power
    and the kingdom of our God
    and the authority of his Messiah.
