⁷⁰ He chose David^(A) his servant
    and took him from the sheep pens;
⁷¹ from tending the sheep^(B) he brought him
    to be the shepherd^(C) of his people Jacob,
    of Israel his inheritance.

²¹ Their leader^(A) will be one of their own;
    their ruler will arise from among them.^(B)
I will bring him near^(C) and he will come close to me—
    for who is he who will devote himself
    to be close to me?’
