May those who seek my life(A)
    be disgraced(B) and put to shame;(C)
may those who plot my ruin
    be turned back(D) in dismay.
May they be like chaff(E) before the wind,
    with the angel of the Lord(F) driving them away;
may their path be dark and slippery,
    with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.

Since they hid their net(G) for me without cause(H)
    and without cause dug a pit(I) for me,
may ruin overtake them by surprise—(J)
    may the net they hid entangle them,
    may they fall into the pit,(K) to their ruin.

23 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,

24 Pour out your wrath(C) on them;
    let your fierce anger overtake them.

    let there be no one to dwell in their tents.(E)
26 For they persecute those you wound
    and talk about the pain of those you hurt.(F)
27 Charge them with crime upon crime;(G)
    do not let them share in your salvation.(H)
28 May they be blotted out of the book of life(I)
    and not be listed with the righteous.(J)
