But what does it say? (A)“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that (B)if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, (C)“Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For (D)there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for (E)the same Lord over all (F)is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For (G)“whoever calls (H)on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Israel Rejects the Gospel

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear (I)without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

(J)“How beautiful are the feet of those who [a]preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, (K)Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed:

(L)“Their sound has gone out to all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world.”

But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[a](A) that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare(B) with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(C) and believe(D) in your heart that God raised him from the dead,(E) you will be saved.(F) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[b](G) 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile(H)—the same Lord is Lord of all(I) and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord(J) will be saved.”[c](K)

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[d](L)

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news.(M) For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”[e](N) 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message,(O) and the message is heard through the word about Christ.(P) 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”[f](Q)
