54 He brought them to His holy land,
to the mountain His right hand acquired.(A)
55 He drove out nations before them.(B)
He apportioned their inheritance by lot
and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.(C)
56 But they rebelliously tested the Most High God,
for they did not keep His decrees.(D)

54 And so he brought them to the border of his holy land,
to the hill country his right hand(A) had taken.
55 He drove out nations(B) before them
and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance;(C)
he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.
56 But they put God to the test
and rebelled against the Most High;
they did not keep his statutes.
