The First Trumpet

⁷ The first angel blew his trumpet, and hail and fire, mixed with blood, were hurled to the earth.^(A) So a third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.^(B)

¹⁹ Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant^[a] appeared in his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder,^(A) an earthquake,^[b] and severe hail.

²¹ Enormous hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds,^[a] fell from the sky on people, and they blasphemed God^(A) for the plague of hail because that plague was extremely severe.^(B)
