in the wilderness
and grieved Him in the desert.

⁴⁰How often they rebelled^(A) against him in the wilderness^(B)
and grieved him^(C) in the wasteland!

¹⁰But they rebelled
and grieved His Holy Spirit.^(A)
So He became their enemy
and fought against them.
