¹ God, give your justice to the king
and your righteousness to the king’s son.^(B)
2 He will judge your people with righteousness
and your afflicted ones with justice.^(C)
3 May the mountains bring well-being^[a] to the people
and the hills, righteousness.^(D)
4 May he vindicate the afflicted among the people,
help the poor,
and crush the oppressor.^(E)

⁶ For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,^(A)
and the government will be on his shoulders.^(B)
He will be named
Wonderful Counselor,^(C) Mighty God,^(D)
Eternal Father,^(E) Prince of Peace.^(F)
7 The dominion will be vast,
and its prosperity will never end.^(G)
He will reign on the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to establish and sustain it
with justice and righteousness from now on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this.^(H)

⁴ but he will judge the poor righteously^(A)
and execute justice for the oppressed of the land.
He will strike the land
with a scepter^[a] from his mouth,^(B)
and he will kill the wicked^(C)
with a command^[b] from his lips.^(D)
5 Righteousness will be a belt around his hips;^(E)
faithfulness will be a belt around his waist.

⁵ “Look, the days are coming”^(A)—this is the Lord’s declaration—
“when I will raise up a Righteous Branch for David.^(B)
He will reign wisely as king
and administer justice and righteousness in the land.^(C)

⁹ Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!
Look, your King is coming to you;
he is righteous and victorious,^[a]
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.^(A)
