Psalm 55:19-21
Good News Translation

19 God, who has ruled from eternity,
    will hear me and defeat them;
for they refuse to change,
    and they do not fear him.

20 My former companion attacked his friends;
    he broke his promises.
21 His words were smoother than cream,
    but there was hatred in his heart;
his words were as soothing as oil,
    but they cut like sharp swords.

19 God, who is enthroned from of old,(A)
    who does not change—
he will hear(B) them and humble them,
    because they have no fear of God.(C)

20 My companion attacks his friends;(D)
    he violates his covenant.(E)
21 His talk is smooth as butter,(F)
    yet war is in his heart;
his words are more soothing than oil,(G)
    yet they are drawn swords.(H)
