    and casts no slur on others;

    “Terror on every side!”^(B)
They conspire against me^(C)
    and plot to take my life.^(D)

⁶ When one of them comes to see me,
    he speaks falsely,^(A) while his heart gathers slander;^(B)
    then he goes out and spreads^(C) it around.

⁵ Whoever slanders their neighbor^(A) in secret,
    I will put to silence;
whoever has haughty eyes^(B) and a proud heart,
    I will not tolerate.
