⁷ Oh, that Israel’s deliverance would come from Zion!
When the Lord restores the fortunes of His people,^[a]
Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.^[b](A)

⁷ How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of the herald,
who proclaims peace,
who brings news of good things,^(A)
who proclaims salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”^(B)
8 The voices of your watchmen^(C)—
they lift up their voices,
shouting for joy together;
for every eye will see
when the Lord returns to Zion.
⁹ Be joyful, rejoice together,
you ruins of Jerusalem!^(D)
For the Lord has comforted His people;^(E)
He has redeemed Jerusalem.

I will certainly restore the fortunes^[a] of Jacob’s tents^(A)
and show compassion on his dwellings.
Every city will be rebuilt on its mound;
every citadel will stand on its proper site.
¹⁹ Thanksgiving will come out of them,
a sound of celebration.
I will multiply them, and they will not decrease;^(B)
I will honor them, and they will not be insignificant.
