4 The Lord is in his holy temple;(A)
the Lord—his throne is in heaven.(B)
His eyes watch;
his gaze[a] examines everyone.[b]
5 The Lord examines the righteous,
but he hates the wicked
and[c] those who love violence.(C)
6 Let him rain burning coals[d] and sulfur on the wicked;
let a scorching wind be the portion in their cup.(D)

He observes everyone on earth;(C)
his eyes examine(D) them.
5 The Lord examines the righteous,(E)
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.(F)
6 On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;(G)
a scorching wind(H) will be their lot.
