Psalm 59:2-9

New International Version

³ See how they lie in wait for me!
    Fierce men conspire^(C) against me
    for no offense or sin of mine, Lord.
⁴ I have done no wrong,^(D) yet they are ready to attack me.^(E)
    Arise to help me; look on my plight!^(F)
5 You, Lord God Almighty,
    you who are the God of Israel,^(G)
rouse yourself^(H) to punish all the nations;^(I)
    show no mercy to wicked traitors.^[a](J)

⁶ They return at evening,
    snarling like dogs,^(K)
    and prowl about the city.
⁷ See what they spew from their mouths^(L)—
    the words from their lips are sharp as swords,^(M)
    and they think, “Who can hear us?”^(N)
8 But you laugh at them, Lord;^(O)
    you scoff at all those nations.^(P)

⁹ You are my strength,^(Q) I watch for you;
    you, God, are my fortress,^(R)
