Psalm 35:17

New English Translation

¹⁷O Lord, how long are you going to watch this?
Rescue^[a] me^[b] from their destructive attacks;
guard my life^[c] from the young lions.

Psalm 35:17 tn Heb “bring back, restore.”
Psalm 35:17 tn Or “my life.”
Psalm 35:17 tn Heb “my only one.” The psalmist may mean that his life is precious, or that he feels isolated and alone (see Ps 22:20). The verb “guard” is supplied in the translation, because the verb “rescue” is understood by ellipsis (see the previous line).

¹⁷How long,^(A) Lord, will you look on?
Rescue me from their ravages,
my precious life^(B) from these lions.^(C)

¹⁷Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
