Psalm 34:12-16

New International Reader's Version

¹²Do you love life
    and want to see many good days?
¹³Then keep your tongues from speaking evil.
    Keep your lips from telling lies.
¹⁴Turn away from evil, and do good.
    Look for peace, and go after it.

¹⁵The Lord looks with favor on those who are godly.
His ears are open to their cry.
¹⁶But the Lord doesn’t look with favor on those who do evil.
He removes all memory of them from the earth.

¹²Whoever of you loves life^(A)
    and desires to see many good days,
¹³keep your tongue^(B) from evil
    and your lips from telling lies.^(C)
¹⁴Turn from evil and do good;^(D)
    seek peace^(E) and pursue it.

¹⁵The eyes of the Lord^(F) are on the righteous,^(G)
and his ears are attentive^(H) to their cry;
¹⁶but the face of the Lord is against^(I) those who do evil,^(J)
to blot out their name^(K) from the earth.
