22 ¶ A good reputation is rather to be chosen than great riches and good grace rather than silver and gold.

²¶ The rich and poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.

³¶ A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and receive hurt.

Proverbs 22:1-3

22 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.^(A)

²Rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord is the Maker of them all.^(B)

³The prudent see danger and take refuge,^(C)
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.^(D)
